BHS Ride Out

Event Details

We’re bringing you a brand new ride for 2025! This is a shorter ride for the start of our ride season aimed at local riders. Everyone is welcome but please bear in mind that it is a shorter ride.

Join BHS Scotland for a fresh and fun new ride at The Scottish National Equestrian Centre. This state of the art venue, set within beautiful rural countryside, is a BHS Approved Centre and is a great location for a new ride.

Route: from the start adjacent to the lorry park, riders will ride along the Oatridge Farm track and ride through the working farm briefly, then up through the woodland and past the tracks used in the Oatridge Horse Trials. There are some steep hills so horses should be relatively fit or take it at an easy pace. The route then opens up onto the crop fields which are mostly flat and quiet. The tracks span over 5km, however you can make it longer by going round each of the fields. Riders will then return through the woodland and farm to return to the finish. There are some lovely views up to Binny Craig as you pass through the orchard in the woods and over to Arthurs Seat in Edinburgh at the top of the crop fields. The ride will also incorporate the access demo site and overall should be approximately 7-8km..

Start times will be from 9.30am and your start time will be emailed to you in advance. In the booking, you can request who you would like to ride with.
